10 Rules for Effortless, Everyday Style

In this series, I share some simple tips for leveling up your daily looks.

Wide leg crops are still a newer style for me that I’m slowly easing myself into. I styled the ochre color back in February, and ended up ordering the bone color shortly after because I knew it would be so good for spring and summer.

Before I start, I want to be sure to talk about fit, as I know a lot of you have sent over questions about that! They have a really nice high rise (I think it’s 11″), and a good amount of stretch—more than the Madewell Emmett crops. I thought I would hate the trouser pockets, but weirdly they actually make the pants more flattering. I recommend choosing your size based on the waist (I have the 2), and for length I’m wearing the short length pants here and I’m 5’4″.

For me, keeping the focus on my waist is key with a wide leg pant. I like to knot a button down top with these crops, and chambray goes so well with the white!

A lot of people have asked me if this top will work for spring and summer because of the color, and the answer is YES! It’s all about how you style it—pair it with white pants and some lighter accessories like woven mules and it’s a winner. It’s so lightweight!

Another great color to mix with white pants is olive—this tee is super soft and really inexpensive. I got my usual size so that I’d have plenty of fabric to work with for knotting it, but it does run a bit big so that’s something to consider. The knotted top and the belt bag help keep the attention at the waist, and if you don’t want to knot your tee, tucking your shirt in with the belt bag will have the same effect!

Stripes, denim, cognac and white—a spring and summer color combo that just really works. You could do navy and white or black and white stripes—both are classic and work with the colors here. I linked a similar top for you (which I also own!) and it runs big, so I recommend sizing down.

Let me know any questions you have about these wide leg crops or styling white pants/jeans in general!
