10 Rules for Effortless, Everyday Style

In this series, I share some simple tips for leveling up your daily looks.

So many small businesses have been hit hard in 2020. This year, it’s more important than ever that we support the small shops we love and help keep them in business for years to come. I’m rounding up a list of my favorite small shops below as an easy reference for you to use during your holiday shopping. Many of them have holiday deals happening, and I’ve included the promo codes I have for some of the brands as well.

Also, as a reminder, I myself am a small business owner, and every time you buy my jewelry or shop through my links or buy one of my style classes, I am so, so grateful. I appreciate you!

ABLE | ABLE is an ethical fashion brand that employs and empowers women as a solution to end poverty. They’re deeply devoted to quality, both in the products they make and the quality of life they aim to provide. They invest in, train, and educate women so they can earn a living, break the cycle of poverty, and thrive. Get 30% off with code Natalie30 during Black Friday/Cyber Monday weekend (some items might be more deeply discounted with the code FESTIVE25, so try both and go with the bigger discount!). After this weekend, use Natalie20 for 20% off.

Brewer & Marr Glassworks | Modern, handmade glass art. I met the founder, Chelsea, last year in New York and I love her passion and the creativity she brings to glass art. She also makes DIY kits, which would be a great gift for anyone crafty in your life.

Carly Jean Los Angeles | This brand is a great option for elevated looking pieces at budget-friendly price points. My favorite item from CJLA is this blouse (see it on me here and here—I like to wear mine backwards), and it’s still in stock! Use code NATALIEBAPP30 for 30% off! They recently created an app and I highly recommend shopping through there—it’s such a good experience and easier to navigate than the website, especially from your phone.

Cope and Co Collection | Small batch artisan quality leather goods, customized with hand stamped messages of your choice. All of their products are hand cut, riveted, punched and stitched, and are built to last. I have the olive mini clutch with “Let your light shine.” stamped inside under the flap. It’s beautiful.

Double M Pottery | I discovered this artist in a local small shop. She makes my favorite mug ever!!

Elidia the Label | Handmade, bold, minimal bags that are a mix of edgy, playful and utilitarian. Handmade by the founder, Talaya (who I know personally—she’s a delight!) in her sewing studio in Birmingham, AL.

Emerson Fry | Emerson Fry believes in the beauty of the individual. It is their intention to create beautiful, strong, functional pieces that enhance enjoyment of life. They do limited runs each week. Use code THANKS20 for 50% off the ‘odds and ends’ section. So many beautiful pieces!

Family Print Shop | Hand-drawn silhouette art that can be worn close to your heart and displayed in your home. The silhouettes they’ve drawn of my children are among my most prized possessions. I especially love their coin necklaces.

Gray Malin | That art print everyone always asks me about is from here—it’s a photograph of Martha’s Vineyard taken from a doorless helicopter! I definitely plan to add another Gray Malin print to our new home. He has a a Big Sur series, and I also love this Maine Boat print and this simple San Francisco wave. Everything is 30% off right now.

Jaclyn James Co | She has a few holiday items available still, but my all-time favorite thing and top gift recommendation is her coffee! It’s beautifully packaged, organically grown, locally roasted in San Diego, and now available in decaf options, too!

Lola Jane Naturals | A green beauty brand intentionally and thoughtfully crafting natural products formulated with fewer ingredients. Local to San Diego!

Primally Pure | My favorite product is actually their Jade Roller. I use it daily! Use code Natalie10 for 10% off.

PS46 | If you’re looking for a custom jewelry gift at an affordable price point, be sure to check out Kaci’s shop!

SOKO | SOKO is a women-led, people-first ethical jewelry brand that I partnered with this holiday season to create the NB x SOKO holiday collection. Some items have waitlists, but we do have select pieces still available! Use the code GIVESOKO25 for 25% off (this is a HUGE deal because I never discount my jewelry…run and get it while you can!)

Sonnet James | Want comfortable, ethically made, mom-friendly clothes? Look no further! Really great for maternity, too.

Sotela Co | Sotela is a clothing company based out of Los Angeles that creates wardrobe staples for humans. The heart of Sotela is to restore your relationship with clothing and to celebrate the strength and resilience of your body. They use eco-friendly fabrics and hand-make every piece from start to finish in their California studio. Use the code Natalie10 for 10% off.

Supply | A perfect place to start shopping for the men in your life this season. Run by a small husband & wife led team, they operate lean, design in-house, and craft iconic everyday essentials using the world’s finest materials. If it’s not hard working, long lasting, and ruggedly handsome, they don’t make it. Two of our very best friends in Texas started this company and they run it with so much integrity and honesty. They were even on Shark Tank and got a deal—we’re so proud of them!

Thread & Seed | A local boutique here in San Diego I’m finally going to check out in person next week! Use the code NAT2020 for 10% off your order.

Tree Fairfax | Handmade, minimal leather goods. I have their woven clutch and it’s so beautiful!

VETTA Capsule | VETTA is a woman-owned, sustainable small business that creates versatile + sustainable wardrobe essentials designed to mix and match. Fun fact: I went to college with one of their founders, Cara! Highly recommend their lounge capsule items. Use code EVERYTHING20 for 20% off.

We Drink Bubbles | We Drink Bubbles is a curated champagne club that delivers clean-farmed bubbly right to your door. Shiloh, the owner, also happens to be one of my dear friends! Use the code NATALIE for a discount, or get a free rose gold champagne stopper with a purchase of $50+ for a limited time with the code BFCM (make sure you add it to your cart before checkout!)

Yearly Company | Ann and I have been working together for years and actually have an heirloom ring available for the holidays—the 14K Gold Petite Dome Ring. I also have 4 of her bangles (a twist, 2 initial bangles and a hammered bangle) and highly recommend them!

Happy shopping! Feel free to comment below with additional small shops you recommend.
