10 Rules for Effortless, Everyday Style

In this series, I share some simple tips for leveling up your daily looks.

While I’m typically a denim girl, lately I’ve been drawn to dresses more and I’m really enjoying the style challenge of wearing them. In this post, I’m styling a chic black puff sleeve mini dress I found at Target recently. It’s so lightweight and comfortable, yet feels fall-appropriate because of the black color and the dramatic sleeves. For jewelry, I’m wearing 2 sets of 14K Gold Huggie Hoops, the James Link Chain Necklace and the Chloe Coin Necklace (coming back soon!)

OUTFIT 1: Dress + ankle boots + leopard crossbody

Okay…officially one of my new favorite looks. I am so into this mix! The bag was a gift from Clare V and it adds so much personality to simple looks (while remaining neutral!). I just got the boots as part of the J.Crew fall campaign I was part of and let me tell you…they are so comfortable! I got my usual size and they don’t need any breaking in.

OUTFIT 2: Dress + leather jacket + sneakers + tote

I love the way leopard print works to tie together black and brown. This jacket was gifted from ABLE for me to try out and it’s a great minimalist moto jacket option for fall. I went up a size in mine personally, and you can get 20% off with the code Natalie20. Just like the boots in the last photo, these shoes were sent as part of the J.Crew fall campaign and I already know I’m going to be getting a lot of wear out of them. The black laces and leopard detail really makes them stand out and they’re distinctly different from my other white sneakers. I went down a 1/2 size in them based on reviews and I’m glad I did! My tote is sadly sold out in black, so I linked the black and white version still available—it’s gorgeous! But if you are on the hunt for an all-black bag, this one is similar from the same designer.

OUTFIT 3: Dress + denim jacket + oxfords + tote

Here’s a classic look for you. Honestly, this would work for summer with sandals, but the oxfords make this feel like a fall look. They’re my first pair of Freda Salvadors and I’m in shoe heaven—use this link to get $40 off your first order! I went up a 1/2 size in this style based on my friend Conni’s recommendation and they’re a perfect fit. The jacket is an oversized style from Madewell that’s sold out (mine is the Capstone wash), but this one is similar. This is another similar Madewell option and it comes in sizes up to 3X. This tote was gifted from Clare V. as part of our exclusive sale last month and it’s honestly been the most surprising addition to my wardrobe. I’m using it WAY more than expected. I love the hand painted monogram on it, too.

Oh, and because I know I’ll get at least one question about it, my sunglasses are by Raen and they’re the only ones I ever wear!

Which look is your favorite?

Super cute looks! I have a very similar dress in a light sage green and I think I could adapt all of these to work with a lighter color palette!

Wow. I really love the oxford shoes. They are not shoes I would have thought about getting, but now I can see them working well in my wardrobe after your styling. All of the outfits are great.

    I love them all!!
