10 Rules for Effortless, Everyday Style

In this series, I share some simple tips for leveling up your daily looks.

There are obviously so many toys and gift ideas out there for kids, and the perfect gift truly will depend on the personality and interests of the kid you’re shopping for. Here I’ve gathered 15 ideas to get you started—several which I’m personally buying for my kids this year!

The Book with No Pictures, $8.64 // Super silly and fun, this is a favorite book at the Borton house.

Melissa & Doug Play Food Set, $10+ // Melissa & Doug makes the best play food sets that really gets kids to use their imaginations and play pretend. Some of our personal favorite sets are the smoothie set, the coffee set, the taco set and the salad set. Also really want to get Lucy this tea set for Christmas this year!

Chuckle & Roar Scribble Glow LCD Sketch Pad, $12.99 // A mess-free, waste-free gift for kids that love to doodle.

Chuckle & Roar Jumbo 4′ x 3′ Aqua Draw Doodle Mat, $15.99 // All you need is water and a little bit of imagination! This set includes the mat, 2 brush pens, 2 markers, and 8 art sponges.

Pretty Please Teethers, $14.99+ // A pretty and practical little gift for your baby’s first Christmas.

Jellycat Stuffed Animal, $15+ // These are so soft and really well made. We have several, and we’ve gifted several to friends and family members with babies and toddlers over the years. They have classics like puppies and kittens, and more fun/silly ones like an octopus or sloth.

Tubby Todd Bath Bomb Bundle, $25 // This would be a cute stocking stuffer for little ones that love a good bubble bath!

Hanna Andersson Pajamas, $29+ // Whether you get them an annual pair of Christmas pajamas, or invest in a pair that they can wear night after night for the rest of the year, Hanna Andersson is the best. They have so many cute patterns to suit the tastes of your kids, and they’re really made to last and stand up well to lots of washing.

IKEA Train Set, $29.99 // A 45-piece wooden set with tracks, trains, trees and other accessories. It can be used with most other railway systems on the market, too.

PicassoTiles 60 Piece Set, $33.99 // We have Magna Tiles and we have these, and we honestly cannot tell them apart. The possibilities with this set are endless and it really gives kids a chance to learn through creative play.

Plan Gams Mini Golf Set, $39.99 // A cute game for kids 4 and up. The set includes 2 wooden kids-sized golf clubs, 2 wooden balls, 3 different types of challenging tracks and 1 hole. Definitely planning to get this for our kids this year.

TekHome Kids Digital Camera, $39.99 // This is a great gift for kids who are always trying to steal your phone to take their own pictures. It’s a fun way for them to get creative and capture their own memories. It has a rechargeable battery, and comes with a 32GB SD card and a USB cord so you can move the photos off of the camera onto your computer (and print the good ones!)

Pottery Barn Kids Critter Robe, $49.50 // My kids love to bundle up in cozy robes after bath time.

Cuddle + Kind Doll, $52+ // Not only are these so well made and well designed, for every cuddle+kind doll sold, they give 10 meals to children in need. This link will give you $20 off your first purchase.

Hearth & Hand Toy Barn, $79.99 //  I love this sweet toy barn and silo. It comes with realistic animal figurines and farm accessories and is really easy on the eyes.

Magic Playbook Subscription, $9/month or $84/yr // The Magic Playbook is a monthly printable subscription that makes putting activities together for your kids easier. Every month, you’ll a seasonal activity, craft, sensory idea or recipe for every day of the month; a monthly collection of themed printables with directions on how to use them; an easy-to-shop supply list; and a library list & curated screen time ideas.

Crate & Kids Ikat Play House, $119* (regularly $149) // Made from durable cotton canvas, it has two cutout windows and a roll-up door flap. Add a sheepskin or soft blanket inside to make it extra cozy.

Bird Birdie 3 Wheel Kick Scooter, $129.99 // A height-adjustable, lean-to-steer scooter with an ultra-wide, three-wheel design. Perfect for ages 3-8 and available in pink or black.
