10 Rules for Effortless, Everyday Style

In this series, I share some simple tips for leveling up your daily looks.

Today I’m excited to be partnering with ShopStyle for a special campaign in partnership with Dress for Success, an international non-profit that empowers women to thrive in work and in life. Today and tomorrow, I will be donating 10% of net sales from my blog to Dress for Success, and ShopStyle will match 100% of my contribution. As part of this campaign, I wanted to share a bit about what makes me feel confident and empowered.

When I think about people who have empowered me, the person who has done so the most consistently and significantly is my husband Brian. He believes in me when I don’t believe in myself, gently pushes me towards reaching my potential, and reminds me that I am capable of much more than I realize. I’m so thankful to have him by my side, as a spouse and now as a business partner.

As far as confidence goes, I don’t know that I really have a specific power outfit, but I do certainly have a power color: black. I’m sure if someone psychoanalyzed that choice they probably would discover something terribly wrong with me, but the reality is, black is my favorite color to wear. It feels bold in a subdued way (if that’s even possible), and I love the way it allows me to accessorize according to my mood. Although I certainly wear other colors (white, grey, tan…haha), it’s what I wear when I have no idea what to wear because I know it’ll make me feel like myself. It’s a recipe for success, every single time. Plus, it makes my jewelry stand out even more 😉

Get inspired by reading more stories of empowerment here, and start shopping now to give back. (Simply shop any of the outfit links on this post, previous outfit posts or anything in my curated shops and know that you’re helping support Dress for Success!)
