10 Rules for Effortless, Everyday Style

In this series, I share some simple tips for leveling up your daily looks.

I got my first pair of flare jeans in 1999 when I was in middle school. I paired them with sketchers platforms, and you better believe the rise of the jeans was LOW. This style of jeans has been in and out of style since the 70s and it is definitely back for fall 2022 — I love the retro feel and the leg-lengthening effect, especially of these ones from ABLE, which have a nice high rise that hits at my natural waist. After trying on my two usual denim sizes I ended up preferring my smaller size for this style since I’m curvy and they have stretch for my hips.

Here are all of the pieces featured in the 12 looks I put together for you:

The jeans are available in sizes 23-33, and everything else comes in sizes XXS-3X.

P.S. The gold boots in all of the looks are secondhand from Anine Bing, found on The Real Real

  1. Katie says:

Hello! I love the way the jeans look but did you have them hemmed? I am about your height and afraid they will be long on me. Thanks!

  2. Mia says:

Wondering if you stuck with your regular size for the Claudette sweater? It’s so gorgeous, I might need both colors too!

  3. Lily says:

Love these outfits! I’d not ready to go back to flares but maybe I’ll change my mind.

Do you mind sharing where your necklace is from?

  4. Melissa says:

I love how these look on you. I want to get these but sizing and ordering jeans online makes me nervous. Suggestions?

    • Natalie says:

Hey Melissa! These do have stretch in them, and I ended up going with my smaller size due to my shape. I’m smaller in the waist, then wider in the hips and thigh, and thanks to the stretch, the jeans in my smaller size fit my bottom half without leaving a waist gap. Hope that helps!
