10 Rules for Effortless, Everyday Style

In this series, I share some simple tips for leveling up your daily looks.

I love a good jumpsuit, don’t you?! It’s like a dress and pants all in one! And while going to the bathroom can be tricky in a jumpsuit, it’s just such an easy and versatile piece to have in your wardrobe—especially during the warmer months where you don’t need more than a light layer.

The one I’m styling for you today is really special. This is the Stella Jumpsuit from Sotela Co: a made-to-order jumpsuit, made right here in Southern California! I met Hanna, the founder of Sotela Co, a couple of years ago and am so impressed by the brand she’s been building. If you’ve never heard about Sotela Co, here’s what you need to know:

  • They are a body-positive clothing brand and community that celebrates women in all their forms.
  • Sotela’s pieces are forgiving and designed to accentuate your natural beauty. Their sizing focuses on fit instead of labeling, and they don’t use the words small, medium, or large. Click here to learn how to measure yourself for their clothing.
  • They use eco-friendly fabrics that have minimal environmental impacts such as tencel and modal.
  • They hand-make every piece from start to finish in their California studio.

So amazing, right?! I’m proud to be wearing this jumpsuit not only because it’s comfortable and flattering, but also because of all they stand for. Love it!

In all of these outfits, I’m wearing my Chloe Coin Necklacesilhouette locket (c/o Family Print Shop, 18″ length), Emma Hoops in Brass Circle, and three Yearly Co bangles: two Initial Bangles (with “J” and “L” on them for my kids’ initials), and a Twist Bangle.

I teamed up with @caitlinkruse and @mommyinheels for this one, so be sure to swing by their Instagram stories to see how they’re styling theirs, too!

This is the way I’ll likely be wearing this jumpsuit the most! For spring and summer, it’s easy to just throw it on with a straw hat and sandals and be out the door. The sandals are still available in only one or two sizes, so I also linked a very similar version that’s also super affordable (they’re from Old Navy!). The hat is old, but I found one that’s SUPER similar. Honestly, I don’t wear hats much these days but every time the weather warms up I’m happy I have a straw hat like this to protect my face from the sun and pair with simple things like dresses and jumpsuits.

This would work for a casual date night or a day with my kids. The sandals are really comfortable thanks to the supportive straps and the block heel. Mine are last season’s, but honestly the new version is even better looking and I kind of wish I had those ones instead! Some of you may know I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect denim jacket ever since I did this style session and dug my old one out of the back of my closet. I’m happy to say that I found one! It’s this one right here, and I sized up to the medium.

This is an easy, super casual look for days when you have to wear real clothes but really just wish you were in your pajamas still. The shape of this cardigan makes it interesting and adds some dimension to the outfit. I got the small/medium and it has a loose, comfortable fit. I’ve had my mule loafers for a while now and they keep getting more comfortable—I recommend sizing up 1/2 size.

Jumpsuit (c/o) / Shirt / Sandals (and similar)

Lastly, here’s one way to style the jumpsuit like pants. Yes, bathroom breaks will be challenging! But for the sake of fashion and versatility, I like this idea for days when I’m not going to be out and about for too long. Tying the shirt right at the natural waist keeps the shape—this shirt is a great wardrobe staple and fits TTS for a slightly oversized fit.

And here’s a close-up peek at all of the jewelry I’m wearing in these outfits. Honestly, it’s more jewelry than I normally wear but it all really works together since it’s metallic and dainty. The earrings and coin necklace are from my shop, and the other two items are from two shops I adore and am super loyal to! I rarely wear jewelry that I haven’t designed or made, but these are exceptions to that rule because their pieces are so, so special. Be sure to check out Yearly Company for 14K gold jewelry (she and I collaborate a few times a year, and she’s the one who makes these bar stud earrings I’m always wearing!), and Family Print Shop for custom silhouette artwork and lockets.
