10 Rules for Effortless, Everyday Style

In this series, I share some simple tips for leveling up your daily looks.

Black tank (mine is an old racerback style, linking the current more bra-friendly option! 15% off with BORTON15) / cream pants / sandals / gold hoops / sunglasses / Abby Alley x Natalie Borton Designs bag coming soon!

No.6 Embrace Versatility
Pack clothing that can easily transition between your different activities. Sometimes all you need to change is your shoe and your bag, or grab a jacket and you are ready to go.

No.7 Dress Like YOU
Remember that you do not need a new wardrobe to have great travel outfits! You might be surprised how much you can do with the clothes you already have. I’ve definitely made my share of purchase mistakes before a vacation, and the older I get the more I feel comfortable just wearing my regular clothes and focusing on styling and accessories to make the looks feel appropriate for the trip.

This series was such a timely gift to me! My family (tears all around) just dropped me off at the airport for a duet trip with my mom to celebrate her retirement. I returned SO MUCH STUFF over the past few weeks. I’m very sweaty, and so sometimes I struggle to implement tips you share around clothing care\packing. And then!! Your tip about bringing a couple of bottoms, but a fresh top for each day of the trip (or each day without a washer) was my aha moment! I was able to do carryon only for a 9-day trip and fit: 2 shoes, 3 dresses, 2 swim suits, 3 pants, 2 hot weather hiking outfits, 1 sunhat, 1 clutch, 8 tops, 3 pajamas, and 1 gym workout fit. Plus a couple of small accessories, undergarments, toiletries, charger, water bottle, meds, battery pack, and OF COURSE my kindle. It also may rain for half the trip, so I wore my warm layer (a half zip sweatshirt), a scarf, hiking boots (my bulkiest shoe), and a rain trench.

    Thank you Natalie!

Just wanted to let you know you have a typo in the title of this post – the 6 is missing 🙂 Loved the series and the trip looked amazing!
