Giving back is something that is incredibly important to me, and one of the reasons I’m thankful that I own my own business so I’m able to do so on a bigger scale. I donate a portion of every sale to National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA)—and this year, thanks to all of your orders and support, we were able to donate $30,000 (that’s TRIPLE last year’s amount)!!!
Here’s a little bit about NEDA and the need for the work they’re doing…
- NEDA is the largest nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting individuals and families affected by eating disorders.
- In the US alone, 20 million women and 10 million men will suffer from an eating disorder at some point in their lives, and eating disorders have the second highest mortality rate of all mental health disorders (surpassed only by opioid addiction).
- Eating disorders are widely misunderstood illnesses and support options are often inaccessible.
- Through their programs and services, NEDA raises awareness, builds communities of support and recovery, funds research, and puts life-saving resources into the hands of those in need.
This is a cause that is dear to my heart, as I personally suffered through an eating disorder while I was in college. So many of the women I know and love have struggled with disordered eating and distorted body image over the years and it’s my desire to use this business for good and contribute to a world where women can fully thrive, living healthy, confident lives of true beauty and worth. My hope is that by giving back to this organization, the jewelry I make can be an outward representation of health and healing and true beauty that radiates from within.
All I can say (over and over again) is THANK YOU! I know you can shop other places and I’m so grateful that you choose to spend your hard-earned money in my shop, making it possible for us together to contribute to this important cause.
Xx,
Natalie
