I feel the need to start this post by saying that you do not need this product. As with everything I share, I never suggest you buy something that’s out of your budget and I don’t want you to feel like you’re missing out on something if it’s on sale and you don’t get it. This product is not so good that it’s worth overspending on. That being said—spoiler alert—I absolutely love it and have had a great experience with it, so I am going to share a bit about it here for anyone who is interested in learning more (it’s currently 20% off with the code CUSTOMERSONLY).
What’s your skin type?
I have (and always have had) dry, sensitive, eczema-prone skin.
What makes this face cream so special?
The Augustinus Bader creams are designed to target fine lines and wrinkles, dehydration, redness, loss of elasticity and pore size, and can be used as an all-in-one product. I personally stopped using other skincare products now that I use The Rich Cream daily.
All of the Augustinus Bader products contain TFC8® (Trigger Factor Complex), which is “a complex of natural amino acids, high-grade vitamins and synthesized molecules naturally found in skin, which guides key nutrients and powerful natural ingredients to the skin cells, creating an optimal environment for the body’s innate processes of repair and renewal.” (TFC8® details taken directly from the Augustinus Bader product page)
Wait…you don’t use any other skincare products?!
Yep! Every night and every morning I simply cleanse my face, use my ridged face roller (feels so good and really helps depuff—use NATALIE10 for 20% off), then apply 3 pumps of The Rich Cream. If it’s morning, I then add a layer of sunscreen on top once the cream has had a chance to fully absorb. That’s it!
My skincare products I used to use cost $321: Sunday Riley A+ Retinoid Serum (used only at night), Beautycounter Countermatch Intense Moisture Serum (used morning and night), Sunday Riley Good Genes Lactic Acid Treatment (used in the morning only) and Sunday Riley ICE Ceramide Cream (used morning and night). While I definitely still stand by all of those products and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them, I’m enjoying a simpler routine with even more hydrated, dewy, happy skin now.
How does The Rich Cream compare to The Cream?
While I haven’t personally tried it, Augustinus Bader also makes a lighter cream called The Cream that could be a better fit for you. Below is a comparison of the two products, taken directly from the Augustinus Bader skincare page:
How long does a bottle last?
That depends on the size bottle you have and how many pumps you use. I use 3 pumps each time, and I use it morning and night. I’ve had my current 30ml bottle for a few weeks and expect it to last me at least another 2 weeks. The website says a 50ml bottle should last approximately 6 weeks, the 30ml should last 4 weeks and the 15ml should last 2 weeks, but I feel like mine last a little longer than that!
Is it cruelty-free? Is it safe for pregnancy?
Yes and yes! The Cream and The Rich Cream have never been tested on animals during product development. The Rich Cream is definitely pregnancy-safe, but The Cream is a maybe. It contains Retinyl Palmitate at a level which is classed as safe for pregnant women, but it is an ingredient some women avoid during pregnancy and breastfeeding so it’s a personal choice for sure. I recommend checking in with your doctor about it if you’re pregnant/breastfeeding and interested in The Cream.
None of the Augustinus Bader products contain parabens, fragrance, mineral oils, sulfates (SLS, SLES), DEA or harsh chemicals.
What does it smell like?
It’s fragrance free and honestly doesn’t really smell like anything (which I like!).
Can we see what your skin looks like now?
Below is an unfiltered, unedited photo of me after using The Rich Cream for a few months. I put on SPF, filled in my brows and have bronzer and blush on, but otherwise have nothing on my face.
What about when your eyelid eczema flares up?
Historically my miracle product has been Sunday Riley ICE Ceramide Cream—it is truly amazing for my eyelid flare ups!! Usually my eyelid eczema is worse in the fall/winter when my stress levels are high because of work, so I can’t wait to see how this cream will work through that season! I’m hoping it just prevents the flares from happening at all, but I also know that stress is powerful and that even the very best skincare can’t prevent certain reactions our bodies have to stress. I’ll be sure to share more after I’ve used this cream through the dry fall and winter months.
Any other questions? Feel free to drop them below!
Do you use another product around your eyes or does Augustinus bader rush cream work around the eye area too?
Thanks
Heather
I always apply the Bader cream around my eye area at night, and then in the morning I sometimes use Sunday Riley Autocorrect when my eyes are feeling tired and need a little boost!
I LOVE it! Yes I use under eyes I kinda rotate every other day Sunday Riely, I also use the body cream it is helping crepy skin, I use on target area because so expensive but Klarna or afterpay I forget you can peice it off!
i’ve found that less is more with skincare. when i was pregnant, i was too lazy for a full routine. so i’d just cleanse with cerave and put the nivea creme in the blue tin on my face and call it a day(night). my skin never looked better! i’ve since started adding spf, vitamin c, niacinamide and AHAs occasionally, but when my skin starts acting up for any reason, going back to just cleanser and moisturizer always does the trick! funny how we get caught up doing the most when it’s not really necessary.
your skin looks great!

So smart to return to a simple routine when your skin feels a little crazy. Sometimes simpler is better!
