Staying in on NYE? Me too! While it is completely acceptable to just wear your pajamas to count down to 2020, I also wanted to offer some alternative options in case you’re having a friends over for a casual gathering or just want to make the night feel a little more special without getting dressy.
I know Christmas isn’t even here yet and it possibly feels a smidge too soon to talk about NYE, but since it’s just one week after Christmas, I wanted to share some outfit ideas for you in case you needed to order anything to arrive in time for December 31st. You can also see all of my other holiday outfit ideas right here.
In all of these outfits, I’m wearing my Sydney Hoop Earrings in Metallic Gold Wood, but any pair of fun gold earrings you have will do! And this is a similar set of black champagne flutes like the one I have.
Easiest look right here—a slouchy cashmere dress (basically a nightgown) and some chic loafers that feel like slippers. Dress and shoes are both TTS, but if you’re tall or in between sizes for the dress I recommend sizing up!
Same look as above, just a shoe swap! If it’s a little chillier or you just are wanting to skip the whole leg-shaving situation, over the knee boots work really well with this dress. These are especially great because they’re flats, which means they’re comfortable to wear all night long. I wore mine for last year’s NYE and they kept my legs comfy and warm all night long.
This jumpsuit is such a wardrobe hero because it can be dressy or casual! It does come with a belt, which I would normally wear with it, but I decided to skip it for this extra cozy look. The cardigan adds some warmth and a touch of winter color, and the shoes add pattern and are comfortable to wear all night long thanks to padding and arch support on the inside. I sized down in this jumpsuit, but if you’re tall stay true to size or consider sizing up for more torso room (I’m 5’4″ and my friend Karla who is 5’9″ gave me those suggestions based on the way she ordered this jumpsuit for herself!)
Admittedly this is on the dressier side of casual-chic, but I think it still qualifies since the clothes are flowy and the heels are super low. I recommend sizing down in the tee, as it seems to have more of a unisex fit. Heels run big, so I recommend going down a full size.
A chic fleece and faux leather leggings are a no brainer combination for an at-home NYE! The fleece runs pretty TTS, but if you like a looser fit you could size up. I find the leggings run small and like to size up in them for the most comfortable fit.
This is the dress that keeps on giving!! It was my favorite fall dress (so much so I worked it into my Halloween costume), and it easily rolls right into the winter holidays. It’s SO SOFT and nice and stretchy. I never want to take it off once I put it on.
A sweater, a knit skirt and shoes that are actually slippers on the inside? Yep! Basically pajamas, but the slit in the skirt elevates everything and makes it a celebratory look.
Another cozy and stretchy look here for you. I love how the sweater blazer has structure to it that makes an outfit look dressy, but is just as stretchy and cozy as a regular cardigan. I sized down in this one but I think they’ve adjusted their sizing and you can stay true to size for it.
One last look for you! I wasn’t planning to include any jeans in this style session, but honestly these jeans are just as comfortable as my faux leather leggings and so it seemed silly to leave them out. They’ve been a favorite of mine for well over a year and they fit pretty true to size, though I’d size down if you’re in between sizes, as they do stretch a bit with wear. The heels run big, so I recommend going down a full size.
