10 Rules for Effortless, Everyday Style

In this series, I share some simple tips for leveling up your daily looks.

More often than not, you’ll find me wearing denim—and that definitely includes fancy occasions! Today I’m going to share 5 holiday-inspired outfits that all incorporate jeans. I decided to use a different style of jeans for each look to give you a lot options. These are the types of jeans I’m featuring:

In all of these looks I’m wearing my Emma Hoops in Brass Snake, my 14K Gold Bar Studs and the 20″ coin necklace from the Moon Coin Necklace Set, and my red lip color is “zip.”

Top (c/o) / Faux fur stole (and similar) / Jeans (c/o) / Boots

This wine color adds instant holiday vibes to an outfit with jeans. The red lip, faux fur stole and over-the-knee-boots all add dressy, festive elements that balance the denim and make this look work for a semi-dressy occasion. The top and boots run true to size, and I sized down in the jeans.

Emerald green is having a major moment right now and it’s a perfect color to add a holiday touch to a jeans-based outfit. Here I balanced the casual feel of the cardigan and straight leg jeans with two super feminine, dressier pieces: a black bodysuit and pointed toe pumps. The slim fitting bodysuit works really well here so the look doesn’t feel overly casual. The jeans run big, and I recommend sizing down 2 sizes from your Madewell size. Note that these are a cropped jean and I’m wearing the regular length—I’m 5’4″.

An unexpected holiday pattern? Leopard! Especially when paired with black and red. It just works. I added in a touch of emerald green with my bag for a bit more holiday cheer. My coat is almost 10 years old (proof that a good camel coat is a GREAT investment), so I linked a similar option. I went down a size in the jeans and the boots fit true to size.

Sweater (and similar) / Jeans (c/o) / Shoes (c/o) / Bag (c/o)

Proof that white jeans definitely work in the winter. Just like above, I mixed in some black and leopard with the red lip for an outfit that’s casual but festive. This sweater is almost entirely sold out, but they have a new similar version that looks really cute, too. The shoes run big so I went down 1/2 size, and the jeans are definitely a boyfriend type fit. I went down a size and have the ankle length, and there’s still a nice loose fit. Such a great alternative to white skinny jeans!

I absolutely love dressing up destroyed denim—it creates such fun contrast in an outfit and always makes me feel cool. Here I balanced the casual fit of the jeans with a slim-fitting bodysuit and some pointed toe pumps, then added in a blazer and the faux fur stole as a top layer. I love how the stole makes everything look holiday-ready. I’ve had mine for almost 4 years and I get so much wear out of it every November and December! Mine is from Alice & Wonder, and I also found a similar one on Amazon.
