Today’s style session features three pieces from a brand I’ve loved for the past 5 years: Sonnet James. I discovered them through my friend Lindsay shortly after their founder Whitney launched the brand, and I’ve had Sonnet James in my closet ever since!
Whitney designs dresses for mothers who want to be playful with their kids and feel beautiful. Sonnet James was born out of the idea that beautiful clothing should work for moms; it should be durable, comfortable and easy to care for. It’s their desire that when you put on a Sonnet James dress or playsuit, it helps you remember who you want to be: a playful mother who is confident in herself and who wants her kids to feel the same. Even better? They’re locally and responsibly made. Their dresses are made in San Francisco, California and they work with a local pattern maker and factory to create and sew their dresses.

- The Winnie Dress in Black // I love the fit of this one for my shape, since it is sewn in a few different panels and fits my body really well. It’s still a “straight silhouette” but I feel like it’s very curvy-friendly thanks to those clever seams. The fabric is thick and stretchy, and I went down a size in this one.
- The Reese Dress in Leopard // This one has a straight fit and is nice and stretchy—on my curves, it is fitted around the bum and thigh area and looser in the mid-section. I ended up with my usual size for this one.
- The Playsuit in Black (sized down) // Nursing-friendly and super versatile, this looks like a jumpsuit but is actually 2 separate pieces! It’s super cozy and nice and roomy, so I went down a size. I also added a belt to all of my looks to give the pants a high rise, cropped fit.

CASUAL
First up, the casual looks! These are the laid-back, practical, everyday ways I’d style these pieces for when I’m hanging with my kids. Flats and fun accessories give each look extra comfort and lots of personality.

Here are three looks that are in between casual and dressed up. They would work for a date night or a girls night for sure, and I also think these would be great outfits for teachers or a lot of work environments. Oh, and I also would totally wear all of these versions around my kids!
