Good news for all of you leopard lovers out there—leopard print works all year round, and I think it’s a perfect pop of pattern for spring and summer. Some of the keys to great style are layers, texture, and pattern. And as the weather warms up, layers obviously become more difficult. One way I love to keep it interesting is to incorporate patterns to keep my simple outfits from feeling dull, and I also love to add in texture with my accessories.
This post is all about the leopard midi skirt. It’s a hot item right now, no doubt, but leopard is a timeless print that will never go out of style.
I used to think that midi skirts weren’t for me due to my height (5’4″), but as it turns out, I just hadn’t found the right style for me. I’ve resisted them for years because they’ve hit at a really strange spot on my leg and were only flattering when worn with heels. But now there are SO MANY midi skirts available in different styles that really help lengthen the leg line while still offering the extra coverage that midi skirts offer. My go-to styles are button-front midi skirts that can be partially unbuttoned for more movement (see 3 ways to style one of those here) or high slit midi skirts—both high rise. On my body, these are the most flattering because they bring the eye to my waistline and elongate my legs.
The skirt I’m styling in this post is either sold out or almost completely sold out (this is a super similar one), but I found TONS of leopard midi skirts for you (all linked at the bottom of this post), and all of them would work with the looks I’ve put together. The most important thing? Finding a skirt that you feel comfortable and confident in.
In all of these outfits, I’m wearing my new, not-yet-available Emma Hoops in Mini Brass Bicone (coming in May), and the Mama Coin Necklace Set that’s coming to the shop on Thursday at 9am PDT—be sure to let your loved ones know about the product launch date and time if you want this for Mother’s Day! (Also, no judgement if you just buy it for yourself!).
This $8 tee is so soft and honestly great quality! I love it even more than my Madewell tees. I sized up to the medium for a more casual fit. This belt bag is definitely a spring and summer staple for me, and I love that it can be just a belt without the bag if I want—I have the XS. These sandals are oldies but goodies—they fit TTS and super comfortable.
Chambray and denim are really easy pairing with leopard and always make me think of J.Crew. All I need is a pop of red lipstick and maybe a playful top knot and then I’m basically straight out of their catalog. This top is old, but this style is classic—I linked a similar one for you. It’s a year-round basic for me, as it layers really well under sweaters in cooler weather.
I love this look for easing into spring clothes when the weather isn’t quite warmed up yet. These woven mules are just as comfy as the other two pairs of Madewell mules I have and I love the texture for spring and summer (fit TTS). This top is one of my most worn items, probably because it’s super soft like pajamas. It goes with everything! I have the small, which is my usual size, and the fit is boxy.
Olive and leopard work really well together, and this tee is no exception. It’s super soft, and I love that it retains its shape even after I knot it up like this since it has stretch in it. I got my usual size small, which is a bit big, but I wanted to be sure it wasn’t too tight when I knotted it.
Same look as above, but for daytime (or really, the park with your kids!). The belt bag keeps you hands free, and the flats are a nice upgrade from flip flops but just as easy to wear.
I don’t think I’ll ever tire of this shirt—it’s a real workhorse in my wardrobe (see 5 more ways to wear it here!). I have the small and while it’s boxy, I wouldn’t recommend sizing down. The straw bag adds great texture and makes this look feel light and airy.
Lastly, a date night look for you! I’m going to try to include these more to show you how you can easily take your daytime clothes into nighttime with a couple of key accessories. A pair of black pumps does wonders and they’re a must for me—I wear these ones on date night all the time! I linked a similar pair from the same brand (mine are TTS).
