Double denim is one of my not-so-secret outfit formulas. As a mom, I rely on denim 90% of the time thanks to how easy it is to care for and wash. Kids are just so messy, and I love that when I wear it I don’t ever feel like I can’t get on the ground and play with Jack or pick him up with peanut butter all over his hands. Here’s how I’m wearing it now, for early fall, and how I’ll transition it to chillier temps as the holiday season approaches…
Denim Now
This is the Canadian Tuxedo I’m rocking these days. For summer, it was all about the cutoffs, but now that the temperature is dropping a little I can finally wear my high risers again—and my new boots! This look is really just a classic outfit and one I wear more often than I’d like to admit at this time.
Denim Later
As the weather cools and fall gets into full swing, you can change up your double denim look and make it cozier with a sweater on top. The one I’m wearing is a favorite, though admittedly not mom-proof as it’s cashmere. But for a date night or working day? Absolutely an A+ sweater. Luckily any basic black sweater will do the trick. I’m including a few options below if you’re in the market for one this season.
Outfit Details
J.Crew shirt (similar), Madewell jeans, Madewell boots, Madewell bag, Madewell sunglasses (c/o), Natalie Borton necklace, Everlane sweater
P.S. Double denim another way.
