10 Rules for Effortless, Everyday Style

In this series, I share some simple tips for leveling up your daily looks.

Kids are messy. Really, really messy. I have some form of peanut butter, hummus or guacamole (three of Jack’s favorites) stuck to my clothes in some way, shape or form every single day. And that’s why I’ve grown to love denim from the depths of my soul.

Denim is not only fairly stain resistant, but it’s also machine washable (very key!), and it gets better and better with time. My favorite thing about denim (besides it’s durability factor) is that it can be worn in so many different ways. Pants. Tops. Around the waist. The possibilities are endless! Even better? You can wear denim with denim! Although commonly called the Canadian Tuxedo, I beg to rename it to the Mom Tuxedo, because it is just the epitome of easy, practical and chic legit mom style.

The way my outfit is styled in this post is perfect for fall, but ditch the sweater and swap out the skinnies for jean shorts and you have a summer look that is just as good.
